the Muscle" or Subglandular – Implant is place above the pectoral
muscles but behind the mammary gland. This type of placement is sometimes
referred to as retroglandular or submammary.

shorter surgery time as implant
can be easily placed.
-
less painful and faster recovery
time because only skin and fat are cut whereas the muscles are left in tact.
-
may be easier to access for
re-operation.
-
larger implants may be placed.
Cons
-
higher risk of capsule contracture.
-
higher risk of ripples.
-
greater
visibility and vulnerability for the implant because only the flesh and gland
separate the implant from the outside world.
-
more difficult imaging of the breast during
mammography.
