Implant Placement - "Under the Muscle"

Under the Muscle" or Subpectoral – also called as “submuscular,” or "retropectoral" whereby implant is place below the pectoralis major Breast Implant Placement - "Under The Muscle" muscle.

Breast implant incision under the muscle can be either "partially under" or "completely under" the pectoralis major muscle.

Pros:

lower risk of palpable implants.
lower risk of capsular contracture.
easier imaging of the breast during mammography.
most of the time, a more natural shape to the upper portion of the breast. In general, there is a more natural slope to the breast, instead of the "upper roundness" that is common with over the muscle implants. This is a good thing, if this is the look you desire.

Cons:

surgery last longer.
may make recovery longer due to stretching of muscle to accommodate the implant.
re-operation may be more difficult.
may be more painful due to muscle manipulation during implant surgery.
may make it more difficult to have some re-operation procedures

This type of incision is not suitable for cases of lifting sagging breasts because implant is only partially covered by the muscle, the weight of the fluid is not supported.
