Treatment for Infection
Generally, infection due to surgery
occurs within a few days to weeks after the operation, it is also possible it
happened at any time after surgery. Normally most infections can be treated with
antibiotics, however, if a infection does not respond to antibiotics, the
implant may have to removed. Re-implantation can take place after the infection
is totally resolved. In rare instances, severe infection can result in Toxic
Shock Syndrome (TSS), and it is a life-threatening condition. If you have one or
more of the above listed symptoms, with or without fever, consult with your
surgeon immediately.
