Type of Breast Implants
There are basically 2 type of breast implant,
Saline-Filled Breast Implants
Saline Implant are
made up of silicone shell with a filling valve filled with salt water solution
known as saline. Saline implants are the most frequently used for breast
augmentation surgeries.
Type of saline-filled breast implants:
There are three types of saline-filled breast implants:
Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants
Silicone implants are
made up of silicone shell
that is filled with a fixed amount of silicone gel,
a soft-solid substance.
The
shell surface (smooth
versus textured),
shape
(round or shaped),
profile (how far it sticks out),
volume (size),
shell thickness, and number of shell lumens for silicone implants varied and
most of the implants are un-adjustable.
Type of
silicone gel-filled breast implants:
There are two
types of silicone implants:
Saline Implants versus
Silicone Implants
-
Silicone implants have a more natural look and feel than saline implants
because its texture is similar to breast tissue.
-
Silicon Implants rupture are harder to detect because silicone gel may leak
into the breast adjacent areas without a noticeable difference.
-
Silicone implants have a higher rate of capsular contracture.
-
Silicone implants have a higher deflation rate.
-
It is more difficult to replace a rupture silicone
implant.
-
Saline implants rupture can be detect almost immediately.
-
Repairing a rupture saline implant is more easier.
-
Saline implants are less risky than silicone
